Postzegelparken zijn de kleinste openbare, en semi-openbare ruimten in steden,
de aangeklede plekken om de hoek: mini-parkjes en –pleintjes, overhoeken, atria
onderdoorgangen, binnenplaatsen, entreezones, dakterrassen etc. Postzegelparken zijn een noodzakelijke aanvulling op reeds bestaande parken, pleinen en
plantsoenen in de stad. Ze verhogen de sfeer en de leefbaarheid; ze kunnen zelfs steden
beroemd maken. Het begrip is afgeleid van van de engelse term 'pocketparks'. Daar waar de
ruimte schaars wordt komen ze in beeld.
Om de aanleg ervan te versnellen hebben wij mede de Stichting Postzegelparken opgericht,
www.postzegelparken.nl De stichting richt zich op het gezamenlijk realiseren van dit soort
buitenruimtes en groeit langzaam uit tot kenniscentrum. Idealiter zou er over elke stad een netwerk van dit soort aantrekkelijke plekken moeten
komen te liggen op loopafstand. Naast initiatieven door overheden zijn ook particuliere

Pocketparks are the smallest public and semi-public spaces in town, in short 'dressed spots
around the corner' like tiny parks and squares, corners, atria, passageways, innercourtyards,
entrance zones, public rooftops etc. There is a need for pocketparks as a completion of the
range: recreational areas, bigger parks and squares and above all 'smaller'.
They really generate atmosphere and quality of life, they even can make a city famous. If
there is a lack of space they become crucial.
To accelerate their realisation we founded the Association for Pocketparks. See
www.postzegelparken.nl The Association focuses on the realisation together with different
parties. During the years the Association will become a centre of knowledge.
In the end every city and village should get a network of tiny spots to walk too. Private
